White Lodging
White Lodging is a hotel ownership, development and management company which has had significant growth since its inception in 1985. Focused on elevated and experiential service, their portfolio consists of more than 50 premium brand hotels, a world-renowned luxury ranch collection and dozens of award-winning restaurant destinations. Since the pandemic the hospitality industry has suffered mass layoffs with many ex employees not coming back. The organization puts great emphasis on employment as these are the people that help build the experience. STUDEO were brought in by Wallop to design the new website, which was to have a greater focus on staffing as it’s no.1 KPI.

With the emphasis being on people we wanted to ensure the design embodied a lifestyle and editorial look and feel with a user experience centered around job application submissions. To achieve this we used large images, photo montages, asymmetrical layouts, and a typographic style that overlaps images. To help push job application conversions we developed a customized global job search widget that appears at the bottom of header images. This is turned on as default but can be turned off on individual pages by an administrator. Users are able to filter by job type, state, and city with the resulting string being sent to their third party careers portal. Imagery leaps off the page against the brand colors made up of black, white, gray, deep red, and a pastel orange. A complex filterable slider was implemented as an efficient way to show featured hotels, restaurants, markets, and rooftops. The news blocks have a custom date display, lending to the overall editorial aesthetic. We worked closely with the developers to create some intricate logic that would link hotels to the restaurants that reside within them and vice versa to show relatable content on case study pages, and reworked the whole hotel search function so users are able to find hotels that interest them more quickly.

The new website is lightning fast, even with the large image assets, and consistently receives over 20,000 unique visitors per month, with the majority of them being in their target age range of 25-34.
